In the return match v LRGS we managed to scrape a draw aginst the hosts who defeated us at Musselburgh back in April.

The match was played over five holes marked out on the old Links and a stark reminder of what golf was like all those years ago was firmly impressded on us all. The first rule of the day was no tees! A handful of sand had to be taken from the box and piled up.

Small greens were mown around each hole but these confused most of us as they were unpredictable to say the least. Despite the lack of local knowledge Captain Eddie Whoriskey and Jim Duffield won a point for MOCGC. The Secretary and Grant Campbell were not at their best and succombed to a disappointing 3&2 loss. Jim Green and Colin Blyth secured another point but Billy Finnigan and Sandy Henderson couldn't supply the final half point to give us victory and avenge our April defeat.

All agreed much fun was had and the after match pie and beans (and pint of Best) soon had the atmosphere alive with good humour. Eddie Whoriskey thanked the hosts for inviting us and promised we would be happy to return next year.
