The Clubhouse

Originally built in 1873 by The Edinburgh Royal Burgess Golfing Society, our Clubhouse is an authentic and original period clubhouse from that time. Although the Burgess Club left in 1893 to set up home at Barnton, on the west side of Edinburgh, the building has never been used as a dwelling home. It has seen many different purposes over the 20th century, including use as a dental appliance factory. It was only in 1995 when Musselburgh Old Course Golf Club, assisted by East Lothian District Council and The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, purchased the building and set about restoring it to its original purpose.

Located in a street which housed the clubhouses of famous golf clubs such as The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, The Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society and the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club, it becomes very clear what an important part in golfing history Musselburgh played. Our clubhouse has seen many of the historic events and is a true testimony to the forefathers of our game.

The main lounge is a large area offering bar and catering facilities as well as quiet areas simply to relax. The building of a mezzanine floor allows a quiet reflective area where you can chat about your round with friends or just simply wind the day down and reflect.

The clubhouse is a treasure trove of information for visitors where many of the events and characters of Musselburgh are celebrated. On request, short tours can be arranged that will enhance your experience and knowledge.
